Kathmandu: The new variant of covid-19 Omicron, which is spreading worldwide, has so far spread to 106 countries.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said in its weekly report on Tuesday that so far 106 countries have been infected with the Omicron variant.

Although the Delta has emerged as a major variant in worldwide sampling tests, the organization says it is at risk as Omicron is spreading.

Recent findings indicate that the rate of infectious growth of omicron is higher than that of the delta, and that the population is spreading rapidly, even in countries with high immunity and community infections, WHO stated.

Omicron infections are on the rise even in neighboring India. As of Wednesday, 213 people have been infected with this variant in India. Most of the infected are in Maharashtra and Delhi.
