Govt preparing to give booster dose from mid-January

Kathmandu: The government is preparing to impose a booster dose against covid-19 from mid-January.

Health and Population Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada said the booster dose would be given from mid-January if the World Health Organization (WHO) gives permission.

Minister Khatiwada said that the booster dose will be given to all citizens including frontline health workers, security personnel, employees, the elderly and children.

Earlier, the chairman of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee Prof. Dr. Ramesh Kant Adhikari had said that half of the population could be given booster dose after being vaccinated with both doses. The advisory committee has also recommended that booster doses be given to senior citizens and the chronically ill.
