Govt form a committee to study mechanical condition of aircraft

Kathmandu: The government has formed a committee to study the physical and mechanical condition of aircraft of domestic airline companies.

According to Taranath Adhikari, spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the committee headed by Joint Secretary Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane will study and research the physical and mechanical condition of the aircraft operating in Nepal.

Former Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Bhesraj Subedi, Senior Captain Krishna Bahadur Poudel and Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism Pramod Nepal have been appointed as members of the committee.

The committee has been tasked to review the test report of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on whether the airlines have complied with the standards approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the crew members.

The ministry said that the committee will also make suggestions to improve the quality of air safety by studying the safety-related work to be followed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The committee has been given three months’ time for this work.
