Kathmandu: A long-awaited dry port at Chobhar in Kathmandu has finally come into operation on Tuesday.
The port was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today.
Prime Minister Deuba inaugurated the port by bringing in three containers carrying goods for Kathmandu through Birgunj.
Now, it has become possible to pass the customs check by bringing the trucks and containers imported from different countries of Nepal directly to Chobhar.
Similarly, customs clearance of goods exported abroad will also be passed from Chobhar.
The Chobhar port has five hundred truck and container parking facilities and facilities including a customs office, quarantine, and security post. The World Bank has provided a loan of Rs 1.54 billion for the construction of Chobhar Port.
