Finance Ministry releases Rs 1.08 bn budget for under construction health service center

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Finance has approved to release Rs 1.08 billion as conditional grant for the health service centers under construction at 113 local levels.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Health and Population to pay the liability of the buildings under construction of the ward level health service center.

As per the policy of providing primary health care in all the wards at the local level, health institutions are under construction in 2626 wards. Remittances are made in the form of financial transfers based on the completion of the work of the health institution.

According to Finance Ministry spokesperson Suman Dahal, Rs 4.20 billion has been allocated for the construction of health service centers in the current fiscal year. Out of that, Rs 2.69 billion has already been disbursed.

The Ministry of Finance had secured Rs. 57.97 billion under the basic hospital construction program at each local level.
Accordingly, the foundation stone of 308 basic hospitals was laid at the local level on December 31.
