Covid-19 testing declines after govt begins charging fees

Kathmandu: With the government’s decision to charge for the treatment of corona infections, the number of people going to hospitals for treatment of corona has dropped dramatically across the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, only 6,222 people are currently in institutional isolation across the country.
According to the ministry, there are 1,034 infected people in Province 1, 33 in Province 2, 3,512 in Bagmati Province, 1,263 in Gandaki Province, 1,247 in Lumbini Province, 14 in Karnali Province and 47 in Far-Western Province.
After the government decided to charge a fee for the treatment of other than the disabled and senior citizens, the infected people have started living in home isolation. Ministry spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said in a regular press briefing on Sunday that 29,197 people are currently infected with home isolation. There are 35,419 active infections in home isolation and institutional isolation across the country.
According to him, in the last 24 hours, the number of PCRs has increased to 12,311 and the number of newly infected people has increased to 2,817.
Similarly, 1,533 infected people have been added in Kathmandu Valley. Of these, 1294 cases have been confirmed in Kathmandu, 77 in Bhaktapur and 162 in Lalitpur.
Similarly, in the last 24 hours, an additional 2,812 people have been cleared of infections and the total number of those who have recovered has reached 157,926.
Meanwhile, 21 more people have died in the past 24 hours. The death toll has risen to 1,108.
