Kathmandu: The voting has started across the country to elect local-level people’s representatives for five years.
Voting is being held today to elect 35,221 people’s representatives of 753 local levels and 6,743 wards including 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 village municipalities.
However, voting will not be held today in some places including a ward of Kapilvastu’s Maharajganj Municipality and Dang’s Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan Municipality.
Due to the death of the candidate, the election process has been started postponed in those places.
Voting will take place in those places only after a few days.
There are 1 crore 77 lakh 33 thousand and 723 eligible voters this time.
Arrangements have been made for safe voting in all polling stations across the country. Two and a half lakh security personnel including Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have been deployed for election security.
