Kathmandu: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has underscored the crucial role of transitional justice in the maintenance of lasting peace.
In a speech delivered to a joint session of Nepal’s Federal Parliament, he noted that Nepal is in the final stages of its peace process and acknowledged the complexity of the transitional justice process.
During his four-day official visit to Nepal, Guterres expressed his satisfaction with the warm reception and referred to Nepal as a friend of the world.
He commended Nepal for its efforts to establish peace, especially in the face of its unique position between two powerful nations. He also praised Nepal’s journey over the past two decades as remarkable and inspiring.
