Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has given a short-term interim order not to implement the Citizenship Bill.

With the order of the Supreme Court, the implementation of the Citizenship Bill approved by President Ramchandra Paudel has been suspended for the time being.

Last year President Bidhya Devi Bhandari refused to authenticate the bill.

Senior advocates Surendra Bhandari and Balkrishna Neupane filed a writ in the Supreme Court, stating that it is unconstitutional to bypass Parliament and validate the Citizenship Bill based on the recommendations made by the government.

With the order of the Supreme Court, the distribution of citizenship has been stopped according to the new law that is being prepared for implementation from tomorrow, Monday.
