Kathmandu: Ministry of Youth and Sports has instructed the National Sports Council (NSC) to refrain from organizing any events other than sports at Dashrath Stadium owing to its weakened ground condition.
The ministry’s decision, announced on Friday, comes as a setback for Nepal’s prospects of hosting FIFA World Cup qualifiers on home turf due to the subpar state of the field. Attributing the stadium’s current use for private sponsorships, the Ministry of Sports underscored the need for effective management in ensuring the facility’s upkeep.
Taking to its official Facebook page on Friday, the ministry urged the National Sports Council to undertake necessary repairs at Dashrath Stadium. Moreover, the ministry outlined its forthcoming plans to establish standardized procedures for stadium maintenance nationwide and to unveil a comprehensive sports calendar.
