Kathmandu: The 13th edition of the SAAF Championship, a major competition of South Asian nations, kicked off in the Maldives on Friday.
Bangladesh got off to a winning start by defeating Sri Lanka 1-0 in the first match played today. The first half between the two teams ended in a draw. Bangladesh scored in the ninth minute of the first half. For Bangladesh, Taepu Burman scored from the penalty spot.
In today’s second match, Nepal and Maldives are playing. The match between Nepal and Maldives will start at 10 pm Nepali time.
Organizers Maldives, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are participating in the competition. All five teams will play against each other in the league. After the league match, the top two teams will play for the title on October 16.
