Kathmandu: Resham Choudhary, the founder of Nagarik Unmukti Party and former MP, who was convicted in the Tikapur incident of Kailali, has been released from jail.
Resham was released from prison after President Ramchandra Paudel pardoned the prison sentence on the occasion of Republic Day.
9 other people will also be released from that prison according to amnesty. The Council of Ministers on Sunday morning recommended that Resham’s 15-year prison sentence be waived.
Eight years back, the demonstration in Tikapur turned into a violent clash, in which 8 policemen and a minor were killed.
