Public vehicle operators violent protest against Traffic Police, burns two traffic vehicles

Kathmandu: Public vehicle operators and workers have announced that they will not run public vehicles in Kathmandu valley from tomorrow, Tuesday.

They protested on the streets today against the rule of not being able to drive for six months after being ticketed five times by the traffic police.
Today, they staged a demonstration in the new bus park area by overturning their vehicles on the road.

In a joint statement issued by the Nepal Transport Independent Workers’ Organization, the Nepal Transport Workers’ Association and the All Nepal Transport Workers’ Association, it is mentioned that 30 people, including the employees of the contractor company Lhotse of the new bus park, assaulted the workers and blocked the demonstration.

They allege that instead of taking action against the people involved in the attack, the police used force against the workers.

Balaju’s Gongbu, New Bus Park area has been tense all day due to workers’ protest.
