Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has defended the decision to dissolve the parliament saying that the parliament could be dissolved if the prime minister does not allow to work in the parliamentary system. Citing the example of the United Kingdom, he said the prime minister could dissolve parliament and go for a fresh mandate if he was not allowed to work.
Addressing a public meeting held by the Bagmati Pradesh Committee in front of Narayanhiti Durbar on Durbar Marg in Kathmandu on Friday, he said that the Prachanda-Madhav faction was forcibly debating the right of the Prime Minister to dissolve the parliament.
He said, “There is a nationwide debate going on. This debate has been forced out. Recommendation for the dissolution of Parliament, is the dissolution of Parliament constitutional or not? That has been debated. I would like to say that in the parliamentary system, if the Prime Minister is not allowed to work, the parliament will be dissolved.”
The Prime Minister also claimed that the Prachanda-Madhav group had obstructed the constitutional appointment. He said that everything is fine after those who did not allow democracy to function properly, adding that the country was now moving towards stability.
He said, ‘Let’s move towards elections, not instability. We need elections, not instability. What the citizen says, election. ‘
Stating that rumors were circulating in the assembly that ‘the monarchy has returned’, Prime Minister Oli said that no one could overthrow the federal democratic republican system.
Prime Minister Oli presented the list saying that the government has worked with high importance in the areas of blacktopping roads, Chandani-Dodhara irrigation, flood control, postal highway, east-west railway, and other areas across the country. He said that a vaccination campaign has been launched against covid and that the vaccination campaign will continue till the end of covid.
