Nepal police arrests 74 people for online gambling

Kathmandu: Police have arrested 74 people for playing online gambling (bingo) at a restaurant near Boudha, Kathmandu.

Subhash Ghising, 30, of Dolakha, now living in Baneshwor, was arrested on Sunday evening at his restaurant by a team from the Metropolitan Police and Police Circle Boudha, police said in a statement.

Police arrived on a special tip-off that a large number of people had been involved in online bingo during the Covid-19 epidemic. According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police, the devices used in the game, mobile phones, coupons used for playing bingo and cash were also seized.

More than Rs 600,000 has also been seized from them.
