Nepal marks 16th Republic Day

Kathmandu: The 16th Republic Day is being celebrated by organizing various programs across the country.

This day has been celebrated for a decade and a half as the achievement of the long sacrifice and struggle of the Nepali people.

In the presence of President Ramchandra Paudel, the Republic Day was celebrated in a grand manner by organizing a special ceremony this morning at the military platform in Tundikhel, Kathmandu.

On the occasion of the same day, the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker, Speaker of the National Assembly and heads of various political parties have expressed their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad on the occasion of Republic Day.

They have paid emotional tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the movement to establish the republic.

The historic Constituent Assembly election was held on 10 April, 2008 according to the consensus of the then seven political parties and CPN (Maoist).
