Nepal export 380 MW electricity even during the peak hour of festive season

Kathmandu: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has exported electricity to India even during the evening of Lakshmi Puja (A festival when the country consumes maximum electricity).

As the excess electricity in Nepal started to be sold in the Indian market, for the first time this year, the authority exported electricity to India even on the evening of Lakshmi Puja.

According to the Authority, 380 megawatts of excess electricity during the peak hour on Monday evening has been sold in the Indian market.

The highest electricity demand in Nepal was at 6:10 PM during Lakshmi Puja. According to the authority, 1,305 megawatts of electricity was consumed at that time.

Last year on the day of Lakshmi Puja, the electricity demand during the peak hour was 1,270 megawatts. Compared to last year, this year’s peak hour demand during Lakshmi Puja is 35 MW more.
