Nepal step out from Asian Women’s volleyball championship

Kathmandu: Nepal will not play in the Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship to be held in the Philippines in August-September. Nepal is not included when the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) announced the draw for the championship on Friday.

Earlier, 12 teams including Nepal were said to be playing in the championship. But according to the team bridge made public by AVC, there will be only eight teams; Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Australia and Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, Nepal, India, Japan and Hong Kong have decided not to play.

Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) has said that probably Nepal has not been included due to the recent increase in the number of corona virus infections.

Nepal had also started indoor training for a month for the championship. Initially, 27 players were trained but now 18 players are in training. The team and the players were all excited to play the Asian Championship for the first time. But lately, Nepal’s name has been removed.
