Kathmandu: The first test flight at the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Bhairahawa will be conducted by Nepal Airlines Corporation. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has stated that it is preparing to conduct a test flight in mid-April.
CAAN plans to launch a test flight on April 14 and start commercial international flights on the day of Buddha Jayanti.
According to CAAN, 11 companies have so far shown interest in operating commercial flights at the airport. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has directed to start commercial flight from Gautam Buddha Airport as soon as possible.
