Kathmandu: Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed chief district officers (CDOs) across the country to gather National Identity Card details at the ward level in collaboration with local authorities.
According to Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson for the ministry, CDOs have been directed to oversee the collection of National ID card information directly from wards.
This directive follows the government’s decision to make the National Identity Card mandatory for accessing social security allowances in 28 districts from July 16. The move comes in response to reports of a growing number of service users in these districts, underscoring the necessity to gather identity card details at the ward level.
