Melamchi floods swept away seven houses

Sindhupalchok (Rashtriya Samachar Samiti): Seven houses in Melamchi-11 have been swept away by the continuous flood in the Melamchi River last night. The houses destroyed by the floods on July 16 have been washed away.

According to Netra Khadka, a local, Melamchi-11 is owned by Harisharan Shrestha of People’s Boat, and a house in Purano Bazaar was flooded.

The Melamchi River has flooded 67 houses since Saturday. According to Rajan Adhikari, Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, 55 houses were flooded in the nearest areas.

According to him, the floods have endangered Chanaute Gyalthum and Dhunger Bazaar, the Mid-Hill Highway at Melamchi-12, and the only Bahunepati bridge connecting Melamchi, Indravati, Chautara and Panchpokhari. The Bahunepati market, which was saved from the floods on July 16, is now at risk.
