Kathmandu: Football star Pele has passed away.
His manager confirmed to the Associated Press that the 82-year-old died during treatment in Sao Paulo.
Pele was being treated at the Albert Einstein Hospital.
Earlier, the doctor who treated Pele said that his condition is serious. He was suffering from cancer and kidney and heart related problems at the same time.
Pele, who helped Brazil win the World Cup three times, was admitted to the hospital last month.
Brazil has won the World Cup five times. Pele is known as the hero who won three out of five titles.
Pele won Brazil the World Cup in 1958, 1962 and 1970. He is the only player to win three World Cups.
Pele has a world record of scoring 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches during his 21-year long football career.
He was also awarded with the FIFA Player of the Century medal in 2000.
