Kathmandu: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli faced an assault on Thursday during the party’s ‘Resolution Journey’ along the central hilly highway in Dhankuta. The incident occurred in Mahalakshmi Municipality-5, Legua, as Oli was entering Dhankuta from Bhojpur.
A youth identified as Mahesh Rai from Leguwa landed a punch on Oli while he was participating in the event. Rai, who was initially in line to welcome Oli, approached and assaulted him.
Security personnel and UML cadres swiftly apprehended Rai after the assault. The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time.
