KMC to ban plastic bags from July 17

Kathmandu: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is going to prohibit the use of plastic from the July 17.

KMC Mayor Balendra Shah presented the policy and program for the next financial year 2023/24, banning single-use plastic from July 17, production, sale, distribution and import of plastic bouquets, as well as the use of plastic bags thinner than 40 microns, will be banned in the metropolitan area and its implementation will be made effective.

KMC also has a policy to formulate a law and implement it to relocate structures such as barrier tanks, walls, electricity and telephone poles and distribution boxes, communication boxes on the road in order to make it easy and safe to walk on foot and make it disabled-friendly.
