Kathmandu: In a bid to promote Maithili language, literature, art, culture, economy, and tourism, a literature and international drama festival is set to take place in Janakpurdham. Organized by the Mithila Development Fund, the festival will be hosted at the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Mithila Cultural Center from February 1 to 5.
The festival will comprise 20 sessions over the course of five days, featuring discussions on politics, economics, literature, and social issues, as stated by Jibnath Chaudhary, the chairperson of the Trust.
Eight plays from both Nepal and India will be showcased during the event, presented in languages including Maithili, Nepali, Hindi, Assamese, and Bengali.
In addition to the dramatic performances and intellectual discussions, the festival will incorporate various events such as a painting exhibition, book exhibition, drama exhibition, and a showcase of Mithila cuisine, offering a diverse range of cultural and artistic experiences for attendees.
