Kathmandu: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has started monitoring juvenile detention homes across the country after problems were found in such child correctional homes.
The commission has written to all the state and provincial branch offices of the commission to monitor the condition of all eight children’s correctional homes in Morang, Parsa, Makwanpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Rupandehi, Banke and Doti districts and submit a report as soon as possible.
The commission said that it has drawn serious attention to the incidents of vandalism and clashes that took place recently in children’s correctional homes in the districts of Bhaktapur, Banke, Parsa and other areas.
A team from the central office has been deployed today to carry out an on-site investigation regarding the incident at Madhyapur, Bhaktapur.
Likewise, the team of Lumbini Province Branch Office Nepalgunj is continuously monitoring the incident at the Children’s Correctional Home in Duduwa Rural Municipality of Banke.
