Kathmandu: The government has urged those waiting for the second dose of covshield vaccine to be patient for some time. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, said that the people in the age group of 65 years and above and those in the Himalayan region above 55 years of age are waiting for the second dose of Covishield.
At the regular press briefing of the Ministry of Health today, the spokesperson Dr. Poudel urged that the second dose of Covishield should be applied at a difference of 16 weeks and if not, the risk of infection would be increased.
He said that the government is making every effort to bring about 1.3 million doses of vaccine required for the second dose and would complete the second dose as soon as possible.
He also said that the government is making efforts to provide vaccines to all citizens above 18 years of age. Spokesperson Poudel also urged to apply online for corona vaccine as much as possible.
Spokesperson Paudel said that the online application has been opened as the government will not be able to get the vaccine as soon as possible, so, by submitting the application as it will ease the management and save time in filling the form at the vaccination center.
He also clarified that no one will be exempted from vaccination as they have not applied online.
