Kathmandu: The government has decided to provide free electricity to the consumers who consume up to 20 units per month. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal told a press conference on Wednesday that the decision was taken by the Board of Directors of Nepal Electricity Authority.
Currently, only those who consume up to 10 units are getting such facilities. Accordingly, customers who consume only 20 units per month will have to pay only a demand fee of Rs 30. Minister Bhusal said that the decision was taken to provide relief to the poor consumers.
Similarly, farmers who use surface water lift technology in agriculture will be given a 50 percent discount during high demand and an 80 percent discount at other times. Minister Bhusal said that this will help in the widespread expansion of cash crops.
