Finance ministry asks govt vehicle details

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Finance has demanded details of government vehicles. Finance Minister Janardan Sharma told the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee of the parliament that he had demanded details of the condition of the old vehicles.

According to Finance Minister Sharma, there is still demand from the Ministry of Finance and various agencies to buy a new vehicle. He said, “I don’t know how much government property there is. The demand to buy a car is still on, so I have asked for a list of government vehicles.”

He said that the government of Nepal will buy a new vehicle only if it needs to know how many vehicles it needs and whether it is available accordingly.

The tendency of government bodies to park their vehicles at Singha Durbar and demand new ones is old. Earlier, the previous government had said that it would collect the details of government vehicles but did not say so.
