Kathmandu: The House of Representatives (HoR) has given its seal of approval to the Charter of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
During Tuesday’s session of the lower house of the Federal Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, presented the proposal seeking endorsement of the BIMSTEC Charter. The proposal garnered majority support, marking a crucial step forward in Nepal’s engagement with the regional bloc.
Throughout the deliberations on the provisions of the BIMSTEC Charter, Minister Shrestha fielded queries and reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to the principles enshrined within the Charter.
The approval of the BIMSTEC Charter reflects Nepal’s proactive engagement in regional cooperation efforts and underscores its commitment to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships within the Bay of Bengal region.
