DOFE objects immigration department’s decision of returning migrant workers from airport

Kathmandu: The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) objects Department of Immigration’s decision of returning migrant workers from airport despite having work permit.

The department disagreed with the decision that the workers going to work abroad with a labor permit must submit additional documents to the immigration office for the departure permit, saying that the documents of the workers who went to Kuwait and Jordan are suspicious.

The Immigration Department issued a statement following protests over the return of workers who had arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport to go to Kuwait and Jordan for foreign employment.

In the statement, more documents and procedures were demanded from the workers going for foreign employment.

But the DoFE has stated that it is not appropriate for immigration to make arbitrary decisions about the rights mentioned in the Foreign Employment Act.
