Kathmandu: Sixteen doctors of the emergency room of Bir Hospital have resigned on Wednesday. Sixteen medical officials have resigned, saying the hospital administration did not pay attention to their demands and safety during the treatment of the Covid 19 patient.
The letter of resignation submitted to the director of the hospital reads, “We would like to inform that our morale has deteriorated due to the negligence of our demands while working during this pandemic, non-provision of necessary safety equipment, disrespect for wages and non-payment of festive allowance.”
Doctors have also mentioned in the letter that they have been forced to work for 96 hours a week with threats but have not provided any services.
However, the emergency room treatment of Bir Hospital is still in operation.
Until the resignation is accepted, the doctors are continuing their work. Until now, the emergency room of Bir Hospital has been staffed by medical officers. However, in the initial stage, both covid and non-covid patients are treated in the ward.
