CAAN asks clarification from KMC Mayor for interupting building construction

Kathmandu: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has asked the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah (Balen) for an explanation.

CAAN has sought an explanation for interupting new building construction.

A team of city police of Kathmandu metropolis stopped the construction on Thursday saying that the map of the complex that the authority is building on its land in Kathmandu-9 has not been passed.

The team of the metropolis removed the barbed wire in the area where the building was being constructed by CAAN.

It is mentioned in the explanation letter that KMC took action without giving any prior notice to the authority.

Saying that Mayor Balen is also directly involved in the act of cutting the wire and removing the fencing, why will the authority not punish him according to Section 25 (1) of the CAAN.

If action is taken according to this, Mayor Balen may be fined up to 50,000 rupees.

Mayor Balen has been directed to send a written explanation within seven days.
