Armed protest by Squatters in Thapathali against Kathmandu Metropolitan City, 17 injured

Kathmandu: Seventeen people, including the city police chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), who arrived to remove the squatter settlements on the banks of the Bagmati in Thapathali, Kathmandu, were injured.

A team including Metropolitan Police Chief Raju Pandey reached Thapathali to remove the slums.

During the retaliatory action by the residents of the squatter settlement, Pandey’s head was fractured, while other city policemen sustained minor injuries.

The police were injured when stones were thrown at them. He said that the injured are being treated at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali.

The condition of the injured city police is normal. Most of the injured are newly recruited city policemen.
