Kathmandu: Sanu Sherpa, who became the first person to successfully climb the world’s 14 highest peaks twice, was given a grand welcome at the Tribhuvan International Airport today.
He has set a world record for climbing 14 highest peaks for two times.
On his return to Nepal from Pakistan on Saturday, Nepal Mountaineering Association, Mountain Guide Association of Nepal (MOGAN), Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Department of Tourism, Nepal Tourism Board, climbers and tourism professionals welcomed him at the airport.
The 48-year-old Sherpa, who has a permanent home in Makalu rural municipality-1 of Sankhuwasabha, started climbing the 8,000-meter high mountain from Cho-Oyu mountain for the first time in 2006.
