Kathmandu: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has requested European Union (EU) to remove Nepal from it’s air safety list.
During a courtesy call on EU Ambassador to Nepal Nona Deprez at the Ministry today, Minister Ale requested for assistance to remove Nepal from the air safety list as Nepal is gradually improving its aviation sector.
Minister Ale said, “The Government of Nepal is fully committed to further improving Nepal’s aviation sector and flight safety.” He also said that Nepal wanted to cooperate with the EU for the promotion and development of culture and tourism sector in European countries.
On the occasion, Ambassador Deprez assured that a request would be made to call an EU technical team as soon as possible to observe the flight safety situation in Nepal.
Assuring that the EU was assisting Nepal in strengthening its aviation security and would continue to do so in the future, she urged Nepal to set up separate bodies to regulate and provide services in the civil aviation sector.
Ambassador Deprez said, “Nepal has made good progress in the field of air security. I will make a positive effort on my part.”
