Govt decides to hold local election on April 14

Kathmandu: The government has decided to hold local elections on April 14.

The Election Commission had recommended April 14 if the government want to conclude the election in one phase. Earlier the ruling five-party alliance said elections would be held in mid-June.

However, based on the Local Level Election Act, the term of the current local people’s representative will end by mid-June. Thus, if the election will be postponed till mid-June the local levels no authority will be there to handle the offices.
