Kathmandu: The government has approved a ‘Sinovac’ vaccine against covid-19 developed by the Chinese company.
Only last Tuesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) gave permission for emergency use of Sinovac.
A meeting of the Department of Drug Management under the Ministry of Health and Population on Friday approved the vaccine preparing to give to people from the age group of 18 years and above.
The Nepalese government has previously allowed emergency use of Covishield, a product of the Serum Institute of India, the Chinese company’s Synopharm’s Verocell and the Russian vaccine Sputnik, and the Indian vaccine Covaxin.
The Ministry of Health has written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to send any other medical supplies except vaccines, oxygen concentration, pediatric ventilators, ICU beds, monitors, PCR test kits.
