Kathmandu (Rashtriya Samachar Samiti): About 150 foreign nationals who entered Nepal on tourist visas have been deported.
According to the Department of Immigration, 136 foreign nationals were deported in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2077/78 (July to mid-February).
Director General of the department Ramesh KC informed that the foreign nationals who entered Nepal on tourist visas and were involved in various activities have been deported. According to him, there are many offenses including overstay, misappropriation of foreign currency, banking offenses and drugs. According to the department, many Chinese nationals have been deported recently.
Director General KC said that the expelled foreign nationals have been barred from entering Nepal for one to 10 years on the basis of guilt. According to the department, more than 42,000 foreigners have been issued visas to enter Nepal in eight months under 13 different headings. Tourist visas have been issued to 20,153 people in a period of eight months. Of these, more than 6,000 visas were issued in February.
In the last eight months, 12,217 foreigners have been issued additional tourist visas, 1,700 business visas and 884 marriage visas. Similarly, 739 study visas, 25 residential visas, 2,993 relatives visas, 1,912 work visas and 272 dependent visas have been issued.
The department has collected revenue of Rs 422.629 million by issuing visas under various headings in eight months.
