Sindhupalchowk (RSS): The major trade Tatopani checkpoint between Nepal and China has been formally re-opened on Wednesday. The Chinese side had closed the checkpoint on September 6 stating that some Nepali employees had contracted Covid-19 infection after the floods and landslides closed for three months.
Lal Bahadur Khatri, chief of the Tatopani customs office, said that the cargo containers would enter Nepal only on Thursday, even though they came into operation as per the understanding between the two countries. It has been stated that Nepali workers will not have to cross the border as the goods entering Nepal will be brought to the customs area by the Chinese side from now on.
According to the Tatopani Customs Office, the containers will be sent to the capital only after being kept in the isolation yard of the customs for 12 to 14 hours.
