Kathmandu: In the wake of the unfortunate passing of former Speaker and Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subash Nembang, his son, Suhang Nembang, has officially submitted his candidacy on behalf of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for April 27.
The CPN-UML’s Ilam district committee has been actively involved in the selection process for the candidate in Ilam-2, following the vacancy left by Subash Nembang’s demise. To facilitate this, a task force was established under the leadership of Uday Bahadur Rai, the party’s vice chairman in Ilam.
The task force issued a call for applications from potential candidates, and, to date, four individuals, including Suhang Nembang, have stepped forward. The other three candidates are Rabindra Subedi, Buddhi Khanal, and Devi Chhetri Dulal. It has been confirmed that the list of candidates, including their applications, is set to be submitted to the district committee by March 16.
This marks a crucial step in the process leading up to the by-elections in Ilam-2, as the CPN-UML endeavors to fill the void left by Subash Nembang and continue its representation in the constituency.
