Kathmandu: The third International Investment Summit, originally scheduled for May 9-10, is now set to be held on May 16-17 in Kathmandu. The decision to reschedule the summit was made due to various reasons, as announced by Tungo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Investment Board, and Susheel Bhatta, the Secretary of the Investment Summit Organizing Committee.
The revised dates for the investment summit were communicated during the second meeting of the organizing committee held today at the Ministry of Finance. Chaired by Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the committee discussed and approved the agenda and format of the summit, identified policy areas for improvement to create an investment-friendly environment, and outlined the overall responsibilities for the summit’s success.
The organizing committee, formed under the coordination of Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, includes Ministers from various sectors such as Foreign Affairs, Energy, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Culture, Tourism, Industry, Agriculture, Urban Development, National Planning Commission Vice-Chair, Chief Secretary, Secretaries of the Ministry of Finance, Industry, and Energy, as well as representatives from the private sector.
The summit aims to identify policy and structural improvements, provide information to investors, and responsibly address the overall organization of the investment summit. The selection process for projects to be showcased in the investment summit, under the theme “Soar with Investments,” is also currently underway.
