Kathmandu: This year, the peak demand of electricity has reached 1,270 MW on the day of Lakshmi Puja.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had projected the peak demand to reach an average of 1,500 MW on the day of Lakshmi Puja this year.
NEA has recorded a peak demand of 1270 MW at 6:15 pm on this year’s Laxmi Puja day. Last year, the peak demand on the day of Lakshmi Puja was 1123 MW.
This year, the peak demand of the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas has been recorded at 320.64 MW. Last year, the peak demand in the region was 296 MW.
The peak demand so far of the current Fiscal Year has been recorded at 1614.8 MW. The maximum power demand of the system including export on the same day was recorded at 1758.8. This is the highest peak demand ever.
