Rhino found dead in Chitwan National Park

Chitwan (Online Khabar): A rare one-horned rhino has been found dead in Chitwan National Park.

The rhino was found dead near the Narayani River near Gidheni Post under the Amaltari sector of the park on Tuesday.

According to Lokendra Adhikari, information officer of the park, a 30-year-old male rhino has been found dead. He informed that the horns of the rhino were safe. According to the official, the old rhino may have died while climbing the hill.

So far in this fiscal year, 24 rhinos have died in the park. Four of them were killed by poachers and 20 died of natural causes. According to the latest census, there are 645 rhinos in Nepal, of which 605 are in Chitwan National Park alone. Preparations have been made to count rhinos in Nepal’s rhino parks this year.
