Infection likely to drop in next four weeks; Health Minister

Kathmandu: Health and Population Minister Hridayesh Tripathi has said the rate of corona infection is relatively low. Looking at the statistics of the last one week, on an average, 20,000 samples are tested daily and 8,300 people are confirmed infected.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Minister Tripathi said that the transition rate could not be brought under control as the movement of people is not effectively controlled and some services were running smoothly.

He, however claimes that the infection is likely to continue to decline over the next four weeks. Currently, B1.617.2 variant is majorly spread, which is also called Indian variant.

Amid this, the Ministry of Health and Population has indicated that a health crisis may erupt as the second wave of corona virus infection is spreading. Minister Hridayesh Tripathi said the government is positive about the health crisis as the second wave of corona is spreading.

“We are positive about the health expert’s suggestion that a new variant of the corona is spreading, and that adhering to health standards should be a priority for everyone to prevent it,” he said.

He also said that the government would do its best for the prevention and treatment of corona. Minister Tripathi informed that positive discussions are being held with the United States, United Kingdom, China, Russia and other countries to bring more vaccines.

He also said that discussions have started with the European Union on bringing the vaccine in stock to Nepal.
