Health ministry assures regular vaccination program

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that the vaccination program against covid-19 will now be conducted regularly. Speaking at a regular press briefing on Sunday, Ministry spokesperson Dr. Krishna Poudel said that the process of bringing vaccines from China is continuing.

Inaugurating the newly constructed surgical building of Bir Hospital on Sunday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also said that no one would have to suffer due to lack of vaccines and that all the citizens would be vaccinated within 2021.

The government had entered into a ‘non-negotiable agreement’ with Chinese company Sinopharm to purchase four million vaccines. As per the agreement, 800,000 vaccines were brought to Kathmandu in the first lot on Friday morning. The government plans to bring the vaccine through two more flights within July month.

Government officials have confirmed that 1.5 million doses of vaccine provided by the United States to Nepal under the Covax program will arrive in Kathmandu on Monday. It has been said that the vaccine, produced by the American company Johnson & Johnson, requires only a single dose.
