Victims identified: 14 bodies identified out of 19 deceased on Narayanghat-Mugling bus tragedy

Kathmandu: In a devastating incident along the Narayanghat-Mugling road in Chitwan, Nepal, the bodies of 19 passengers from two buses that were swept away by a landslide into the Trishuli River have been recovered so far. The incident occurred last Friday morning, shaking the Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29 community.

The tragedy involved two buses: Angel Deluxe, traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu, and Ganesh Deluxe, heading towards Gaur from Kathmandu. The landslide at Simaltal on the Narayanghat-Mugling road section caused both buses to plunge into the river. Of the 65 passengers on board, three individuals—Nandan Das, Jugeshwar Yadav, and Saroj Kumar Gupta—miraculously escaped by jumping out of the bus.

According to Shailendra Thapa, Joint Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force Nepal, 14 bodies have been identified so far, while efforts continue to identify the remaining five victims. The recovered bodies include individuals such as Rishipal Sah from India, Bikash Pariyar from Chitwan, Ramit Kushar Majhi from Sarlahi, and others. The APF continues its search operation to locate the missing passengers.

The tragic incident has plunged the region into mourning as families and authorities grapple with the aftermath. The recovery efforts are ongoing amidst challenging conditions, with hopes of bringing closure to all affected families soon.
