Vaccination against covid infection halts in Kathmandu valley

Kathmandu: The vaccination campaign against covid-19 infection in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has been halted in lack of vaccines.

According to KMC vaccination program had to be postponed due to the government’s inability to provide enough vaccines.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) had launched a campaign to give Chinese vaccine (Verosell) to senior citizens in the age group of 60-64 years from June 9 onwards. However, the metropolis said it had to suspend the campaign until further notice due to insufficient vaccines.

KMC has given the first dose of vaccine to 28,000 senior citizens in the age group of 60-64 years in a period of three days. As per KMC, the District Public Health Office has provided 32,000 vaccines to Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and 28,000 have been used in three days. The remaining 4,000 vaccines have been postponed until the government provides more vaccines.
