Kathmandu: The Department of Tourism has directed to close Hotel Yak & Yeti and its casino at Durbar Marg, Kathmandu.

The Department of Tourism has directed to close the hotels and casinos, saying that the royalty and license renewal fee of Rs 42 million is yet to be paid by the hotel and casino.

DoT has taken action under the direct instruction of Tourism Minister Prem Bahadur Ale. The Minister had decided on halt the real estate of the hotel and stop the transactions in banks and financial institutions after the hotel ignored repeated notice from the ministry.

It is mentioned in the letter written by the tourism department that Minister Ale has also decided to revoke the five-star hotel classification certificate.
