Three years imprisonment announced for beating health workers

Kathmandu: The government has brought an ordinance to imprison anyone who beats health worker. Anyone who beats a health worker will be imprisoned for three years with fine up to Rs 300,000.

Now, even if the health facility is besieged, imprisonment for up to one year can be imposed. The government has brought an ordinance to amend the Health Workers and Health Institutions Security Act, 2066 BS after the attack on the health workers of Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj.

In the ordinance issued by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Sunday on the recommendation of the cabinet, the hospital, as well as the holding center, quarantine and isolation for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, have been included in the health institution.
